Abstract

This paper presents the results of a fieldwork research relating to three indian societies in Brazil, through the use of the model for the comparative study of fertility proposed by Kingsley Davis and Judith Blake. The collected data show changes within these societies which favourably affected fertility. From this evidence many other questions concerning the social organization and its influence on fertility are discussed.
