MIGRATION IN THE ADMINISTRATIVE REGIONS OF THE STATE OF SÃO PAULO ACCORDING TO THE CENSUS OF 1980

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyse intra-regional migration in the State of São Paulo, using special tabulations from the Demographic Census of 1980, Firstly, the main characteristics of migration in the administrative regions of the state are stressed. Greater emphasis is given to volume and intensity of out-migration and in-migration registered in each of the regions in the 70s. Later on, with the analysis of streams in the global migration process in the State of São Paulo, an attempt is made to show the directions of these movements, the importance of the various flows, as well as the net outcome of displacements between the different administrative regions.
