Abstract

The ampliation of the "Natural Children Method" in data of the Demografic Population Census of Brazil from 1970 and 1980 broke down by region and housin locus, allowed to generate annually estimatives of the Total Fertility Rate between 1957 and 1979. Since then, we only had estimates for the census years or for the average of the inter-census period. The estimatives through the "Natural Children Method" confirmed the levels obtained with the use of Brass' Fertility Method, with the additional advantage of allowing a greater detailing of the earlier period of acceleration of the fertility rate decline as per each region and housing locus.
